Brandon Dailey was a hit in the land of gun racks and hunting trophies.
Besides being a hit for the rookie-class Billings Mustangs, the Cincinnati Reds farmhand was a hit from coast to coast.
Dailey (Brantford, Ont.) had the most hits and knocked in the most runs to earn Canadian Baseball Network Player of the Week honours as the best of the 119 Canadians playing affliated ball.
How the week that was went for the former Ontario Terrier, selected in the 34th round of the 2010 draft by Reds Canadian scout Bill Byckowski, as Dailey:
_ Went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs against in a 7-6 loss to the Helena Brewers.
_ Was hitless in three at-bats and knocked in a run in a 9-4 victory against Helana.
_ Went 4-for-5 with a double, a triple and two RBIs in a 9-8 win over the Great Falls Voyageurs.
_ Went 2-for-5 in a 6-4 win against Great Falls.
For the week Dailey hit .500 going 9-for-18 with five RBIs.
Only Eric Wood (Pickering, Ont.) .538 (7-for-13) hit for a higher average with three RBIs.

Leroux seems to be thriving in his new role as a starter for the Indians, and on Aug. 6 had another excellent outing. In a 1-0 loss to the Charlotte Knights, he pitched seven scoreless, gave up only one hit and struck out five, but was not involved in the decision. He improved his overall record with Indianapolis to 1-0 with an excellent 2.27 ERA.

After a short re-hab stint with rookie-class Gulf Coast Twins, Albers was reassigned to the Rock Cats, and his first start was a very good one. On Aug. 7 he earned his fourth win of the season in an 8-1 victory over Binghamton Mets, tossing five scoreless innings and giving up one hit, while striking out five hitters. His overall record with New Britain improved to 4-2 with a 3.52 ERA.

Taillon made another excellent start on Aug. 4, when he led the Marauders to a 2-0 win over the Palm Beach Cardinals. In this game he threw five scoreless innings, giving up only two hits, striking out four Cardinal Hitters. This game improved his overall record in the Florida State League to 6-7 with a 3.91 ERA.

Paxton made two starts this week and earned his sixth and seventh wins of the season for the Generals. On Aug. 1, he beat the Birmingham Barons 9-1 with six scoreless Innings, giving up five hits and, while striking out eight Barons Hitters. On Aug. 7 he threw 5 2/3 innings in a 10-4 victory over Tennessee Smokies, as he surrendered seven Hits and four earned runs and struck out five. The two wins improved his overall record at Double-A Jackson to 7-3 with a 3.31 ERA.

Inch made two very good Relief appearanced this week and in the process earned his first win of the season at Williamsport. On Aug. 1 he got the win with one scoreless inning in whch he gave up two hits in a 7-6 victory over Aberdeen Ironbirds. On Aug. 4 he pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings in a 15-inning 6-5 loss to the Connecticut Tigers, but was not involved in the decision. In this game he gave up two hits, while stirking out two hitters. He improved his overall record with the Crosscutters to 1-1 with a 5.08 ERA.

Mariotti continued his excellent season with the Capitales, and for the second year in a row, he became a 10-game winner in the Can Am League. On Aug. 5 in a 5-0 victory over Worcester Toronadoes, he earned his 10th win, with seven scorless innings, allowing four hits and as he struck out three. He improved his record with Quebec to 10-1 with a 3.87 ERA.
