Vancouver Island Baseball Institute will have a major on-line facelift for the 2013 season.

The VIBI communications department as been making strides, upgrading and making a new commitment its Facebook and Twitter pages in recent weeks, but Thursday represents by far the most significant development. VIBI has reached an agreement Turn2 Web Design  on a complete re-design of the team’s official website.

Turn2 Web Design is led by Regina-based web design professional, Adam Geiger, who has a tremendous portfolio and reputation for designing first-class websites for a wide variety of clients. Websites designed by Geiger and Turn2 Web Design include the official website of the Western Major Baseball League, as well as the WMBL’s Regina Red Sox and Edmonton Prospects.

Geiger has a passion for baseball, serving as the long-time play-by-play voice of the Regina Red Sox.

“First and foremost, we would like to extend our thanks to Turn2 Web Design and Adam for partnering on this exciting project,” said Jonathan Hodgson, director of communications for VIBI. “I’m very familiar with Adam, who has designed great baseball sites.

“The addition of a website will help us present a first class image that is representative of this program, and will allow us to quickly and easily make our information public, including in-depth game coverage all season long.”

VIBI general manager and coach, Jordan Blundell echoes that sentiment,

“Visitors to our new online home will be left with a professional first impression that we feel is fitting of our program,” said Blundell.

A brand new feature to the new will be the inclusion of web-broadcast capabilities. Every game during the 2013 season will have play-by-play coverage on the website, with Hodgson on the microphone all season.

Development is underway, and the launch of the new website is expected to correspond with Opening Day of the VIBI Mariners 2013 spring season.

You can stay in touch with the program online all season and tune in home games at the home of VIBI, Serauxmen Stadium in Nanaimo, BC.
