Chris Leroux is adjusting to hie new role as a starter just fine thank you.

After pitching in relief, Leroux was made a starter for the triple-A Indianapolis Indians, Leroux made two starts this week, earning a win and a no decison to earn the honour as having the best week of the 119 Canadians in the minors.

On July 26th, the Pittsburgh Pirates farm hand picked up his first win of the season in a 5-1 victory over Pawtucket Red Sox, tossing five scoreless innings, allowing three hits while striking Runs and out three.

And on On July 31 he got a no decision in a 5-4 extra-inning loss to Buffalo Bisons, pitching six innings, allowing five hits, two earned runs while striking out five.

These two appearances improved the former Team Ontario catcher’s over-all record with Indianapolis to 1-0 with a 2.76 ERA.

Kansas City Royals prospect Cory had an excellent week with Idaho Falls Chukkars, picking up a win, a save and a no decision, in three appearances.  On July 27, he pitched one scoreless nning in a 6-5 loss to Grand Junction Rockies, gave up two hits. On July 30, he earned his first win of the season in a 4-3 victory over Grand Junction, tossing one scoreless inning, surrendering only one hit. On July 31, he closed out a 7-4 victory over Ogden Raptors, earning his fourths ave of the year, pitched 2/3 scoreless without allowing a hit and striking out two Raptor hitters. With this performance the Regina native improved his over-all record with the Chukkars to 1-1, four aves and a 2.89 ERA.

Kleven made two starts for the BlueClaws this week, and earned a win in both games. On July 25 he beat the Hagerstown Suns 10-3, throwing 6 1/3 innings, allowing five hits and three earned runs, while striking out six Suns Hitters.  On July 30, he earned his sixth win of the season in an 8-0 victory over Delmarva Shorebirds, pitched eight scoreless innings, gave up only two hits, while striking out six. It was his longest outing of the season, and umproved his record with Lakewood to 6-7 and a 4.40 ERA.

Paxton continues to pitch effectively for Double-A Jackson, and this week the Mariners prospect earned his fifth win of the year in his only start. On July 27, he beat Montgomery Biscuits 5-3 with six strong innings, in which he surrendered only four hits, one earned run and struck out four. The win improved his record with the Generals to 5-3 with a 3.34 ERA.

For the fourth week in a row, Hill has pitched well enough to earna spot in our “Weekly Best Pitching Performances“ list.  On July 28, he had another excellent start in 7-2 victory over Salt Lake Bees and earned his sixth win of the year for the 51’s. He tossed seven scoreless innings and gave up five hits, striking five. He improved his overall record with Las Vegas to 6-0 with a 3.96 ERA.
