Melissa grew up in London, Ont. She has a sports journalism degree from Centennial College in Toronto and a Master’s degree in American history from Western University. Aside from writing for CBN, Melissa also works as a sports reporter-editor at The Canadian Press.
She started watching baseball at a young age, and credits her three older brothers with teaching her about baseball and sharing their love of the game with her. Melissa’s first real taste of baseball writing came in March 2012 when she traveled to Dunedin and Fort Myers, Fla. to cover minor league spring training for Centennial College’s online newspaper. Her first story, on Daniel Norris, the Blue Jays second round draft pick in 2011, was published by the Toronto Sun. Since then, Melissa has been writing about Canadian players for this site. She interned at the Toronto Sun in 2012, covering the Blue Jays, Raptors, Argos, and everything in between.
She's had stories published in papers and online outlets across the country through CP, as well as Sportsnet.ca, andMLB.com.
