This was a very light week in Central Ontario Baseball Association Major League play with only two games scheduled on the Monday and leaving the rest of the week for teams to prepare for the gruelling Ontario Men’s elimination tournament in the Windsor area.

The Oakville A’s were one of the teams in action as they hosted the Mississauga Southwest Twins. The A’s had a rough night in this one as the dropped the contest 11-4.

It was all Mississauga SW early in this one as they score one in the second, three in the third, and one more in the fourth to take a commanding 5-0 lead. Oakville showed some life as they put up two runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 5-2 but the Twins put the dagger in the seventh putting up for more runs and a 9-2 lead. The teams traded two spots in the eighth inning leading to the 11-4 final.

Gord Robertson started and took the loss for Oakville throwing three innings and allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits. Michael Vanderlaan, Matt Reagan, and Alex Hawley also saw time on the mound allowing the other seven runs but only four of them were earned. James Byrnes, one of five Twins hurlers, got the win on the mound in two innings of work.

Oakville was led at the plate by Marc Walton who was 2-for-3 with a double, home run and three RBI. Alex Kupchak was 3-for-5 with three singles and Andrew Kotulak collected the other RBI with a single in four trips to the plate.
