Tony Handley of the Stony Brook Seawolves earned America East player of the week honors.

Handley, a sophomore (Whitby, Ont.) was produced six hits in 11 at bats during the Seawolves two games during the week. He went 4-for-7 in the 13-inning, 8-5, victory over the Maine Black Bears in Game 1 on Friday and an RBI. His RBI came on a two-out single in the top of the 13th that plated the game-winning run. The center fielder also gunned out a runner at home in the bottom of the eighth inning that would have given Maine a 5-4 lead.

Handley then went 2-for 4 in the second game of the double header with an RBI triple in the seventh inning that provided some insurance for the Seawolves in the 3-1 win.

The final game of the Maine series was rained out, as was the game against the Iona Gaels.

The former Ontario Terriers grad is hitting .270 with three doubles, two triples and 10 RBIs. He’s 4-for-5 stealing bases and has an OPS of .772.

Teammates Cole Peragine (Belle Ewart, Ont.) is batting .266 with three doubles and eight RBIs, while Johnny Caputo (Toronto, Ont.) is hitting .244 with three doubles, a triple, a homer and 15 RBIs.
