HOW IT HAPPENED
- JNT starter Nick Virdo (Brampton, Ont.) struggled early walking the first batter he faced before hitting the next two batters to load the bases. He was then removed from the game in favour of Brady Moxham (Oakville, Man.) who gave up a fly ball to left field that allowed the runner from third to tag and score the first run of the game. With one down, a potential double play ball was misplayed up the middle that allowed two more Aussie runs to score.

- Australia added to their lead in the fourth when Moxham gave up a lead off homer off a 1-0 fastball that saw the ball clear the wall in left field. After a pair of singles and a groundout that moved the runners to second and third, a single up the middle allowed them to score to give the Aussies a six-run lead.

- After Tristan Pompey (Mississauga, Ont.) got Canada on the board with a solo home run with one out in the bottom of the fifth, Australia answered back with two runs in the top of the sixth to go up by seven. Reliever RJ Freure (Burlington, Ont.) walked two batters that both came around to score on a single to right field. After Freure hit a batter to load the bases, he hit the next batter to bring in a run.

- Things didn’t get better for Freure in the seventh as he continued to struggle with his control hitting three batters and walking two which led to four more Aussie runs coming in.

- Back-to-back-to-back singles with one out in the ninth, off of reliever William Sierra (Montréal, Que.) brought in the 13th Aussie run of the game.

JNT HIGHLIGHTS
- Pompey’s homer came with one out on a 0-2 pitch that he belted over the wall in left field.

- Moxham, who came into the game cold after Virdo failed to get an out in the first inning, did a solid job on the mound for Canada working five innings that included three scoreless frames. He ended his outing with three strikeouts.

- Including Pompey’s homer, Canada only managed four hits that saw Brad Aldred (Whitby, Ont.) collect his second double of the week in addition to a single, while Adam Hall (London, Ont.) had the other hit.

Adam Morissette

Adam Morissette was born and raised in Ottawa, Ont. where sports were always a big part of his life whether it be baseball, hockey or football, including playing two seasons as centre for coach Pat Sheahan with the Queen's University Golden Gaels in Kingston -- Canada's first capital. Morissette has always have been passionate about baseball and has fond memories of attending Montreal Expos games with his father, Mike, and listening to his recollection of watching baseball in Montreal at Jarry Park and stories about Gary Carter, Rusty Staub and Steve Rodgers. Morissette could often be found in a near empty Lynx Stadium watching Joe Siddall, Bert Heffernan, Curtis Pride and Jamie Carroll soaking in a beautiful summer night at the ballpark. He was a member of the provincial championship Orleans Red Sox Little League teams also played with the Ottawa White Sox for the late Lyle Anderson and Todd Burke in OBA Midget and American Legion play and the Capital City Crushers (NCBL), primarily as a catcher. Has also spent time coaching Little League in Orleans and South Ottawa. He wanted to turn his passion into a career and enrolled in Sport Business Management at Algonquin College in Ottawa in 2007. After working for the Ottawa 67's OHL team as the Ticket Coordinator, Morissette jumped at the opportunity to become the Media and Public Relations Coordinator with Baseball Canada in 2010. He loves watching and reading about pro, college or amateur baseball and is a long-time subscriber to Baseball America. Morissette is thrilled about the idea of writing about baseball and is interested in covering any story that his car -- and time -- will allow him to cover.
