Pre-season NCAA honors

By Bob Elliott

No less than 16 Canadians were named to the Baseball America and Perfect Game pre-season scouting service top prospects reports.

The conference-by conference break down of prospects mentioned 12 Canucks for this June, two for 2016 and two for 2017.

Since the Blue Jays signed free-agent Russell Martin (Montreal, Que.) they lost their first-round pick.

The Jays do acquire a compensation pick for the loss of Melky Cabrera, who joined the Chicago White Sox.

So Toronto’s first pick with be 29th over-all. Then the Jays will pick 56th and 91st in the first three rounds (105 selections).
