Official Ottawa Titans News Release

Ottawa, Ont. - The Ottawa Titans have re-signed infielder Michael Fuhrman and signed right-handed pitcher Scott Prins.

Fuhrman, 23, returns to the nation’s capital following his professional debut last season. In 20 games, the 5-foot-10 infielder hit .241 with a homer and eight RBIs. Fuhrman notched at least a hit in 12 contests, including his first pro-round-tripper, a three-run homer, in game two of a doubleheader on August 11 at home.

Hailing from Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., Fuhrman appeared in 196 games at the University of California, San Diego (La Jolla, Calif.) from 2019 to 2023. A career .301 hitter in college, Fuhrman recorded 37 doubles, 17 home runs, and 110 RBIs. The 23-year-old has proven to be very versatile defensively for Bobby Brown’s squad in his young professional career as he can serve as the catcher and up the middle at either second base or shortstop.

Prins, 22, officially puts pen to paper with the Titans after suiting up in the Dutch Professional League for the last six seasons. For the Amsterdam Pirates this past summer, the right-hander made 13 appearances (eight starts, five in relief) and went 4-4 with a 3.19 ERA over 53 2/3 innings.

A product of Badhoevedorp, Netherlands, Prins is a lifetime 18-11 in 48 games (38 starts, ten in relief) and a 2.65 ERA over 244 2/3 innings. A Kingdom of the Netherlands National Team member, Prins put together a stellar 2022 season with battery-mate Sicnarf Loopstok for the Pirates, going 5-1 with a 0.65 ERA over 55 1/3 innings in nine games.

The Ottawa Titans open the 2024 season on Friday, May 10 against the New England Chowdahheads. The Titans’ home opener is scheduled for Tuesday, May 21 versus the Tri-City ValleyCats at Ottawa Stadium.
