Perfect Game

152. Adam Shoemaker, LHP, St. Benedict HS

L-L, 6-6/180, Cambridge, Ontario

College Commitment: St. John’s

A native of Canada, Shoemaker had to deal with even more COVID-related restrictions than Americans did in most cases, thus his flying totally under the radar until this spring. A big, lean, projectable left-hander, Shoemaker has been up to 95 mph this spring with the arm speed and aforementioned frame that portends to extremely high end velocity in time. He has moderate feel for a slider and some have seen promise in his changeup, but the projection is the thing here. With very limited scouting and data available on Shoemaker, it seems more likely that he’d head to St. John’s, but time will tell.

Top Canadians

4. Adam Shoemaker, LHP, Great Lakes Canadians, Cambridge, Ont. (BA RANK: 371)

Shoemaker hasn’t had much time on the mound in game action, with the southpaw only recently departing Canada to have an opportunity to showcase himself across the border ahead of the draft because of strict pandemic protocols in his home province. The 6-foot-6, 185-pound lefthander has a frame with all the projection in the world remaining. Shoemaker has been up to 95 mph with his fastball, and the St. John’s commit has shown a cement-mixer slider to go with a changeup he hasn’t had a chance to use much.
