The Blue Jays’ minor leaguers started the week off with two wins and two losses, getting victories in Buffalo and Lansing while the Fisher Cats and Dunedin Blue Jays fell in their games.

Buffalo Bisons 5, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 3
Wade LeBlanc struck out seven and the Buffalo bullpen was outstanding yet again as the Bisons toppled the RailRiders 5-3 to open their series. LeBlanc allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk with the seven Ks while Dustin Antolin pitched 2 1/3 hitless innings, walking two and striking out a pair to bring his ERA down to 1.13. Pat Venditte threw the final inning and a third, allowing a hit and struking out one.

David Adams had a pair of doubles, two RBI and a walk to lead the offense while Andy Burns was 2/4 with a single and a double (scoring a run) and Casey Kotchman was 2/4 with an RBI. A.J. Jimenez also drove in one with a triple and a second with a sacrifice fly and scored a run.

Player of the Game: David Adams

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 2, Reading Fightin Phils 3
The Fisher Cats’ flaccid offense wasted a solid peformance from John Anderson who went seven innings (his longest start of the year), allowing three runs on six hits without walking anyone and striking out six. Chris Smith threw a hitless eighth and Colt Hynes threw a one-hit, two-walk ninth, with each striking out a batter.

The hitters had just four hits including a double (and a walk) from Dwight Smith, Jr. which drove both Fisher Cats runs. Ian Parmley was 2/4 with a run but was caught stealing.

Dunedin Blue Jays 2, Brevard County Manatees 8
With a five-run second inning, the Brevard County Manatees jumped out to an early lead and held one for a comfortable 8-2 victory against the D-Jays. Ryan Borucki gave up all five runs of the early runs on seven hits and two walks, lasting just three innings. Chris Rowley gave up two more on four hits in 2 1/3 innings and Tim Mayza allowed an inherited run to score as well as one of his own (unearned) in 2/3 of an inning. Matt Dermody threw the final two innings, giving up three hits with two strikeouts.

The offense couldn’t take advantage of their eight hits for more than two runs, getting hits in pairs from Michael Bourn (2/4, 3B, BB), Richard Urena (2/5, RBI, SB), and Ryan McBroom (2/4, BB, SB).

Player of the Game: Michael Bourn, Richard Urena and Ryan McBroom

Roster Notes: Anthony Alford was activated from the DL and Juliandry Higuera was sent back to extended spring training.

Lansing Lugnuts 4, Cedar Rapids Kernels 1
Angel Perdomo continues his dominance of Midwest League hitters, fanning seven and allowing only an earned run as the Lugnuts cruised to a 4-1 victory over the visiting Cedar Rapids Kernels. Perdomo threw 82 pitches, 53 of them for strikes, as he gave up three hits and two walks. Gustavo Pierre walked two and gave up a hit but didn’t allow a run in his inning, striking out a batter while Dan Lietz continues to hack away at his ERA, bringing it down further with a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and striking out one. Colton Turner made things exciting in the last two innings, giving up a single and two walks in the eighth and two singles in the ninth, but Turner turned on the juice, striking out four over the two innings and picking up the save.

The top six batters in the order did all of the damage, getting two hits from Lane Thomas (2/4, 2B, R), Juan Kelly (2/4, 2 2B, RBI, R), Carl Wise (2/3, BB, 2B, 2 RBI) while Gunnar Heidt was 1/3 with a double and a stolen base and Andrew Guillotte was 1/4 with a double. Ryan Hissey went 1/3 with a walk.

Player of the Game: Angel Perdomo
