Official Press Release from Alomar Sports Inc.

ROBERTO ALOMAR AND MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL TEAM UP TO BRING SHOWCASE TOURNAMENT TO PUERTO RICO

For the second consecutive year, National Baseball Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar and Major League Baseball have partnered together to host the Annual Puerto Rico 12 Baseball Tournament (PR12) in San Juan, Puerto Rico from July 25 to July 30, 2019.

The objective of PR12 is to select the best 150 Puerto Rican born amateur players (ages 16-19) that have college eligibility. These players will participate in a showcase baseball tournament in front of Major League Scouts and College Recruiters. Interested players, coaches and volunteers can find more information at www.alomarsports.com/events/pr-12.

“I am really excited to team up with Major League Baseball and the Commissioner’s Office for the 2nd Annual PR12. In 2018, we were able to make such a huge impact for amateur players in Puerto Rico. Several players signed with MLB teams, but more importantly we were able to bring some attention to the baseball talent that exists in Puerto Rico. I am truly thankful for all the assistance we have received from the Puerto Rican baseball community, government affairs, Petra Media, and the countless volunteers and staff that make this event happen.” - Roberto Alomar, MLB Special Consultant for Puerto Rico Baseball.

“MLB is proud to once again support PR12 in 2019. Through this event, we were able to produce some tangible results for both individual players and MLB Clubs, and we are looking forward to seeing more growth this coming year.” - Tony Reagins, Executive Vice President of Baseball Development, Major League Baseball.

Selected players will be divided into six teams and will play a five-game tournament along with participating in a skills day in front of Professional Scouts and College Recruiters. Interested players must register for a PR12 Tryout Camp closest to the geographical region where they live. During the PR12 Tryout Camps, players will be evaluated on their ability to hit, throw, field and run. Players can sign up for a PR12 Tryout Camp by emailing pr12@alomarsports.com.

Dates for PR12 Tryout Camps will be announced the first week of February 2019. Players will be selected by a committee made up of Alomar Sports Inc. and the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau. Final rosters will be announced on July 8. Each team will have 24 players along with 3 coaches.
