COBA Major Week IX: Etobicoke Rangers, Murphy, Proctor

The COBA Major Zero K Bats Team of the Week for Week IX and the third time this season are  the Etobicoke Rangers. This past week the Rangers had a solid week going 2-0. They started off the week with a 19-9 victory on the road in Milton before traveling back home on Friday and defeating the Oakville A’s 11-1.

With the wins last week, the Etobicoke club now sits at 11-4-1 on the season. That is good for 1st place overall in the COBA Major Senior Baseball League. 

The COBA Major D-Ville Bats Player of the Week for Week IX (June 25-July 1) _ OF Daniel Murphy of the Etobicoke Rangers.

Murphy played in two games during this week helping lead the Rangers to a 2-0 record. They won both of their games via the mercy rule this week as they defeated the Milton Red Sox 19-9 on the road before returning home and defeating the Oakville A’s 11-1. For his week, he was 5-for-9 (.556) with four singles, and a grand slam home run. He scored four runs while collecting six RBI and also added two stolen bases.

For his season, Murphy is now hitting .478 (32-for-67) with seven doubles, one triple, and two home runs. He has driven in 23 runs while scoring 24 runs and as also stolen nine bases without being thrown out yet.

The COBA Major Lazer Pro Pitcher of the Week for Week 9: RHP Dan Proctor of the Niagara Metros.

Proctor had one appearance this week helping to lead Niagara to a 3-0 victory at home against the Burlington Brants. In this game, he tossed six shutout innings and allowed only two hits. He walked two batters while striking out seven in collecting the win.

For his season, Proctor now sits at 1-0. In his 12 innings of work, he has allowed three runs, all earned, on seven hits good for a 2.25 ERA. He has walked 14 batters while collecting 15 strikeouts thus far.
