The Western Canadian Baseball League Championship series is set.

A rematch of the 2011 Finals will take place as the Regina Red Sox will open the championship series against the Okotoks Dawgs at Currie Field at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday.

The Red Sox (41-15) finished with one more regular season win than the Dawgs (40-15) which earned them the privilege of hosting the first game of the 1-1-1 series format.

(The Dawgs had their July 3 game against the Weyburn Beavers rained out and the two teams could not reschedule it during the regular season.)

The Red Sox are the more recent champions of the two teams, winning it all back in 2012, while the Dawgs will look for their first title since 2009.

The Red Sox held off the Swift Current 57s with a 2-0 victory at home on Wednesday in the third and deciding game of the Eastern Divisional final. They will now take on a rested Dawgs squad that last played on Tuesday when they ousted the Lethbridge Bulls with a 4-3 victory.

The Dawgs will host Game 2 at Seaman Stadium on Friday at 7:05 p.m.
