Blue Jays from Away

The Blue Jays' affiliates went 3-2 on Friday getting wins from Lansing, Buffalo and Dunedin, the same three teams that won on Thursday.

Buffalo Bisons 3, Lehigh Valley IronPigs (PHI) 1

The triple-A Buffalo Bisons got a stellar pitching performance from Sean Reid-Foley and just enough offence in the fourth inning to stop the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 3-1 on Friday.

Andy Burns had himself a day, going 2/3 with a double and home run, driving in two and scoring once. Socrates Brito was 2/4 with a stolen base while Anthony Alford continues his hitting ways, going 2/4 but was caught stealing. Billy McKinney was also 2/4 and Reese McGuire hit a double, going 1/4 with an RBI and a run. Jordan Patterson had the club's other hit and Richard Urena was 0/3 but walked and scored.

Reid-Foley went seven scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and two walks with six strikeouts to get the win. Buddy Boshers allowed a run on three hits with two strikeouts in the eighth and Jordan Romano (Markham, Ont.) notched his fourth save with a scoreless ninth, giving up a hit and striking out one.

Roster Notes: Graham Spraker was sent back to the Dunedin Blue Jays and Bo Bichette was sent to Dunedin to begin a rehab assignment. David Phelps was sent to Buffalo to continue a rehab assignment.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5, Richmond Flying Squirrels (SF) 14

The double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats' pitching and defence imploded, giving up 14 runs to the Richmond Flying Squirrels in a 14-5 loss.

While there was talk that he might be called up for a spot start in Toronto, Patrick Murphy had a rough outing for New Hampshire, allowing five runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings. He left the bases loaded for Tayler Saucedo who let just one inherited runner score, giving up three runs of his own (one earned) on a hit and three walks in 2 2/3 innings. Jake Fishman was tagged for six runs on six hits (including two home runs) and two walks in 1 2/3 innings and Ty Tice stranded two runners, tossing 2 1/3 innings of scoreless ball, striking out one.

Josh Palacios went yard, hitting his second home run of the year, going 2/4 with an RBI and a run while Brock Lundquist was 1/4 with a solo home run. Vinny Capra hit a double, going 2/4 with a run and Nash Knight was 1/3 with a walk and a double, driving in one. Chad Spanberger was 1/3 with an RBI and a run.

Dunedin Blue Jays 5, Bradenton Marauders (PIT) 4

The class-A Advanced Dunedin Blue Jays scored a run in the top of the ninth to edge out the Bradenton Marauders 5-4.

Bo Bichette was the big news of the day, getting into league action for the first time since breaking his hand. He went 0/1 with two walks, a stolen base and he struck out in his third appearance of the game. Logan Warmoth was 3/4 with a run and a double while Ryan Noda was 1/1 with two walks and a home run, two runs and he was hit by a pitch. Chavez Young was 1/4 with a double, an RBI and a run and Christopher Bec was 1/2 with a stolen base coming in for Bichette and playing third base. Norberto Obeso was also 1/4.

Maximo Castillo had a strong start, going six innings and giving up a run on five hits with six strikeouts. Kyle Weatherly went 1 2/3 innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits (including a home run) and a walk with three strikeouts, leaving two runners on for Dany Jimenez. Jimenez allowed both runners to score, giving up a hit and two walks in 1 1/3 innings, striking out three.

Roster Notes: Brayden Bouchey (White Rock, B.C.) was placed on the 7-day IL and Graham Spraker was returned to the Dunedin Blue Jays from Buffalo. Bo Bichette was assigned to Dunedin for rehab.

Lansing Lugnuts 6, Lake County Captains (CLE) 4

The low-A Lugnuts got some solid pitching and strong hitting performances on their way to a 6-4 win to open their series against the Lake County Captains.

Griffin Conine was on base four times, going 2/3 with a double and two walks, scoring a run. Jake Brodt drove in three, going 2/5 with a double, two stolen bases and three RBI. Gabriel Moreno was 1/4 with a walk, a stolen base, an RBI and three runs and Reggie Pruitt was 1/5 and Ryan Gold was 1/2 with two walks, an RBI, a sac fly and a stolen base. D.J. Neal was 1/4 with a stolen base and Rafael Lantigua was 1/4 with a double and a run.

Sean Wymer had a strong start, going 6 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Mike Pascoe allowed an unearned run on just a walk with one strikeout in one inning and Sean Rackoski gave up a run on two hits with 1 1/3 innings.

DSL Blue Jays 1, DSL Orioles1 7

The DSL Blue Jays had another rough game, getting just six hits and scoring once in a 7-1 loss to the DSL Orioles1.

Leonel Callez had a pair of hits and Vincent D'Orazio was 1/2 with two walks. Gabriel Martinez was 1/4 with a walk while Willfrann Astudillo and Gustavo Gutierrez were both 1/4.

Juanfer Castro started for the Blue Jays allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits (including a home run) with a walk and four strikeouts in four innings. Marc Civit allowed another three runs on three hits and a walk with four strikeouts in two innings and Gerardo Santana threw two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and a walk. Raudy Sanchez walked three, allowing a run on a hit with a strikeout in the ninth.
