Game 1
WMBL Championship Series
Regina 5 at Medicine Hat 8

The Medicine Hat Mavericks drew first blood in the WMBL championship series. The Mavericks outscored the visiting Regina Red Sox 8-5 in front of 1,284 fans at Athletic Park.

Carson Johnson, the shortstop from Springdale Ark., drove in three runs to lead the Maverick’s offensive. Medicine Hat outfielder David Salgueriro was also a key player in the victory as he scored three runs on one hit and two walks.

Brooks Stotler had two home runs in a losing cause for the Red Sox. Wesley Moss scored two runs and added two hits including a home run for Regina.

Alex Dafoe, the junior from Friends University, got the start and the win for the Mavericks. Over his 6 1/3 inning performance, Dafoe was charged with five runs on eight hits.
