Votto, Taillon nab NL Player of the Week honours in April

Joey Votto (Etobicoke, Ont.) was named National League Player of the Week for the week from April 23 to 29. It was the fifth time in his career he has won this honour.

Joey Votto (Etobicoke, Ont) was named National League Player of the Week for the week of April 23 to 29. It was the fifth time in his career that he has won this honour.

The Canadian slugger batted .348 with four home runs and a .913 slugging percentage in seven games that week.

Earlier in the month, Jameson Taillon, who maintains a Canadian citizenship and pitched for Canada in the 2013 World Baseball Classic, took home the same award, after he went 2-0 with a 1.26 ERA in two starts during the week of April 2 to April 8.
