First installment of Tournament 12 rosters

The Prairies, the defending Tournament 12 champs coached by Jim Baba (Ottawa, Ont.) won the 2015 title.

The drama is over.

Well at least it is for four teams in the fourth annual Tournament 12 it is with the release of the first list of selections to play in the best high school tournament in the country.

The Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy has set rosters by naming the full 20-player rosters for the British Columbia, Alberta, Prairies and Atlantic entrants for the Tournament 12, run by commissioner Robbie Alomar as the defending AL East champions continue in their roll of solid corporate citizens.

And the first 10 players for the Ontario-Black, Ontario-Green, Quebec and Futures Teams were named as well. 

Invites for second tryouts (Ontario and Quebec only) will be sent out Aug. 10-12. The tryout will take place at Ajax Sportsplex on Aug. 17-18. 

So the roster drama will continue in Ontario, Quebec -- will I be selected? -- and for other grade 11 students with a shot to make the Futures Team.

And once the final three rosters are set teams will gear up towards the tourney Sept. 15-19 at the Rogers Centre.

Past winners include the Atlantic, Quebec and last year’s champs, the Prairies, a run which has yet to end as Saskatchewan won the Canada Cup on the weekend. Talent hot beds like British Columbia and Ontario have yet to win the Tournament 12.
