You have heard of Tinkers to Evers to Chance.

Well north of the border there is a different combination which gets things done.

Baseball Canada’s Adam Morissette sent off a query to John Mathew IV, Blue because MLB Draft Tracker was shy the accurate number of the 25 Canadians drafted. Missing from the post-draft MLB Draft Tracker when you list by country were:

_ RHP Cal Quantrill, born in Toronto, raised in Port Hope, Ont. and went eighth overall to the San Diego Padres.

_ RHP Bryan Saucedo, born and raised in Toronto, who represented Canada internationally, who went in the 14th to the Chicago White Sox from Davenport University

_ OF Toby Handley, born in Whitby, Ont,, who represented Canada internationally, chosen in the 33rd round by the Houston Astros from Stony Brook.

_ RHP Brayden Bouchey born in Vancouver, raised in White Rock, BC, selected in the 33th round by the Toronto Blue Jays from Louisiana-Monroe.

Matthew emailed Cory Schwartz, vice-president of stats for MLB.com, who changed the data base query criteria to birth country.

And presto ... not only were there 25 Canucks, but Morrissette discovered two more.

Then came the fun part ... the hunt.

_ The Oakland A’s chose RHP Christian Lindsay-Young from the Niagara County Community College in the 23rd round.

_ The Boston Red Sox selected RHP Jordan Scheftz in the 28th round from Saddleback College.

But where were they both born?

Well, Debbie Gallas of the A’s, coach Matt Clingersmith of Niagara County Community College Thunder Wolves and Oakland scout Matt Higginson helped us track down Lindsday-Young, who was born in Oakville, Ont. and moved to Hamburg, NY when he was only a few months old.

The 6-foot-5 right-hander went 9-0, with a 1.20 ERA in 10 starts striking out 79 in 52 2/3 innings.

Red Sox historian Gordon Edes and Jerry Hannula, assistant athletic director at Saddleback, helped us contact Scheftz. Scheftz was born in North York and two months later his parents, Marni and Trevor, moved to Irvine, Calif. to open a restaurant.

Pitching out of the bullpen for Saddleback he was 4-3, with a 3.48 ERA striking out 24 in 31 innings and holding opposing hitters to .169 average.

So two more Canucks drafted thanks to the Morissette-to-Matthew-to-Schwartz combination.

Score it 613-to-416-to-212 and 27 Canadians in total.
