“Greg Brons (Team Saskatchewan) developed the fundamental skills of pitching with me in high school and gave me a good base as a pitcher to move on to the college level.

“Josh Oller (Colby), my pitching coach. Introduced me to new aspects of training, tools, and techniques to improve as a pitcher. He pushed me to be a better athlete in the weight room and on the baseball field as well as accomplish things I didn’t think were possible for me.

“Ryan Carter, (Colby) my coach took a chance on me out of high school and made me feel comfortable moving to a place completely unknown to me. He taught me many life lessons aside from the baseball aspect at Colby. Forever grateful for the opportunities I got while attending Colby.

“Falmouth Commodores coaching staff. I appreciate them giving me an opportunity to pitch in the best summer collegiate league in the country. They made me feel welcome in a place very unknown to me and made it the best summer of my life.

“Bobby Barbier (Northwestern State) head coach/pitching coach at NSU. Pushed me to try new things as a pitcher and have confidence in situations I may have been uncomfortable with before. Gave me the opportunity to succeed at the highest level of college baseball.”

Best pitch: Muenster change up.

Scouting Reports:

Prospects Live (August 2019)

“A right-hander with a three-pitch mix and a fluid delivery with over-the-top arm action. His change up flashed above-average with some nice tumble and run. It was an effective offering, stealing strikes from left-handed hitters to his arm side. His curve ball has 11-5 break with some twist at the end. The curve ball was his best swing-and-miss pitch. Overall a decent pitch mix, good mechanics and a pair of good secondaries make Hoffman a legit bullpen option in pro ball, even if he’s below average size and lacks huge fastball velocity.”

Baseball America

“Hofmann is a short, 5-foot-10 righthander who led all Division I with a 0.00 ERA in 28 innings with 38 strikeouts. Hoffman doesn’t overpower batters, but he has a fringe-average 90-91 mph fastball and an above-average 12-to-6 curveball with some power.”
