The most influential people in my baseball life: “I would say a number of people have been crucial in my journey so far. My parents have been extremely supportive of me, driving me to places, making sure I had what i needed, and always wanting me to succeed. My coaches at the Blaze, Doug Matheison and Jamie Bodaly, over the years they have always made sure I was getting the proper exposure and always challenging myself. Whether it was throwing against the Seattle Mariners (first and second-year pros) at 14 or The Los Angeles Dodgers at 17, They are always pushing me to be better. Plus Greg Hamilton, my coach on team Canada has always made sure I was competing and doing my best against pro competition, He has made me comfortable in high pressure situations. He took a chance on me when I was 14 to play on the Junior National team and it has been the best thing to happen to me. My pitching coach Kyle Lotzkar has been really great to me helping me with my mechanics, workouts, and throwing programs. He has helped me a ton over the years and definitely made me who I am today.”

Best day on the ball field: “In Panama with team Canada and we were playing against Mexico. I started that game and something about the energy and excitement to go pitch for your country was a feeling like no other. We as a team fought hard, and we won 4-3, it was a great team win. I remember we sung O Canada on the way back on the bus after the win. My favorite part of that day was after the game after we all got on the bus and went back to the hotel we went to subway and all got food as a team.”

Good genes: My mom, Lisa Kelly-Duncan, grew up dancing and singing. I credit her for my confidence and being comfortable in the spotlight. My dad, Anthony Duncan, grew up playing baseball. He was also a pitcher, but right-handed. He stopped playing at 15 to pursue golf and went on to play golf at the college level on a scholarship.

Honours: 2026 season _ Perfect Game All-American Senior First Team, First Team All-Region Canada/Puerto Rico ... 2025 season with Langley Blaze _ Prep Baseball Canada Player of the Year ... Received Baseball Canada’s Russell Martin MVP award for his performance at World Cup qualifier ... Under Armour All American, invited to pitch at Camden Yards in Baltimore ... 2024 season _ Team Canada Russel Martin Award (MVP) recipient.

Favourite player when you discovered baseball: “Mariano Rivera. He dominated hitters for years with just one pitch. Any elementary school project i ever did was always with him as the main topic growing up.”

Favourite player today: “Probably Paul Skenes or Tarik Skubal. They both know how to pitch so well throw so many pitches for strikes and just dominate whomever is in front of them.”

Interested teams: “I’ve been lucky to get the opportunity to have conversations and visits with members from all of the teams. I was able to throw for a large number of teams during spring break in Arizona on the Langley Blaze Pro Tour and look forward to playing in front of more during the upcoming trips with Team Canada.”

Sean Duncan and INF Tim Piasentin

Williamsport teammates: Coquitlam INF Tim Piasentin, drafted in the fifth round and signed (receiving a $747,500 signing bonus) by the Blue Jays in 2025 and Duncan were teammates on the Coquitlam Canadian champion Little League which reached the 2019 World Series in Willamsport, Penn.

Coquitlam arms race: Curtis Taylor of Coquitlam was selected in the fourth round of the draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2016. He has been in the minor league systems of seven organizations. Besides the Diamondbacks, he has been with the Tampa Bay Rays, Toronto Blue Jays, Washington Nationals, Minnesota Twins, Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals. Taylor was 10-4 with a 3.21 ERA for the triple-A Memphis Cardinals, of the the Cards system. This season he is pitching for the NC Dinos in Korea.

Scouting Report

Baseball America

“There’s a lot to like with Duncan, who has a projectable build at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds and a loose, free-and-easy delivery. His feel for pitching is advanced for his age, and he’ll be one of the younger players in the class (as is typical for most top-end Canadian prospects). He works off a fastball that is up to 94 mph and should reach another gear in the next few years. Duncan is able to change speeds well, particularly with a lively change up that he sells well with his arm speed and features a lot of fade to get empty swings. He also has a slider for which he shows feel to spin and a curve ball he can drop in for early-count strikes. Duncan is a Vanderbilt commit.”

Perfect Game

“Very projectable Canadian southpaw, very young for the class, up to 95 mph in Jupiter with pitchability and more there.”
