TORONTO - Sean Duncan (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) threw two perfect innings Wednesday to propel Team Royal to a 7-0 win over Team New Blue on Day 2 of the Canadian Futures Showcase at Rogers Centre.

The Vanderbilt University commit was named player of the game after picking up the win and showed why he is Canada’s top prospect for the 2026 MLB Draft. The left-hander faced the minimum over two innings of scoreless ball, striking out three and throwing only 20 pitches.

“The fastball was working, hitting 95 miles per hour for the first time was really fun, I’ve never done that before,” Duncan said after the game. “I was just trying to attack the zone and get ahead of the hitters.”

Duncan, 17, has earned a number of accolades this season. In January, he was presented with the Russell Martin Award as the most valuable player of the Junior National Team, and in July, he was named Prep Baseball Canada’s 2025 Player of the Year.

Team Royal pitchers Adrian Krupka (Toronto, Ont.), Xavier-Raphaël Brault (Blainville, Que.) and Ramsey Chung (Mississauga, Ont.) picked up where Duncan left off, combining to throw five scoreless innings and giving up only two hits and no walks while striking out seven.

William Henderson (Mississauga, Ont.) continued his strong tournament, driving in two runs to open the scoring in the third inning. Henderson, who earned player of the game honours in Team Royal’s 9-1 win on Tuesday, added two steals to bring his total to three in the Showcase.

“It’s everything to me that's why I’m a baseball player. I love running,” Henderson said after the game.

Henderson came around to score the game's fourth run when Connor Comeau (Austin, Texas) singled to left, continuing to show off his speed.

“When I can get on the bases, it’s everything for me, it’s my game,” he said.

The centre fielder also showed off his defensive ability, teaming up with shortstop Kadyn Armitage (Surrey, B.C.) to throw out Team Royal right fielder Galen Hudel (Waterloo, Ont.) trying to stretch a double into a triple.

Kason Siguenza (Abbotsford, B.C.) and Jalen Jacob (Maple, Ont.) each drove in runs in the win.

Team New Blue starter Lucas St-Laurent (Ascot Corner, Que.) gave up two unearned runs, one hit, one walk and struck out five batters over three innings. St-Laurent was charged with the loss.

Right-hander Will Zielinski (Victoria, B.C.) pitched the next two innings, giving up two runs on four hits, two walks and one strikeout.

Dominic Fiorenza (Bolton, Ont.) finished off the game for Team New Blue, surrendering three runs over his two innings of work with three walks and four punchouts.

Next up: Team Royal is back at it Thursday morning, with first pitch set for 9 a.m. Graham Thiessen (Stanley, Man.) is expected to start. Team New Blue squares off against Team Black Thursday evening at 6 p.m. Charlie Firth (Ottawa, Ont.) is projected to start.
