C Brett Mercier (Lutes Mountain, NB) a former Vauxhall Academy Jet has committed to play for the Indian River State Pioneers in Fort Pierce, Fla. 

Mercier went west to improve his baseball skills, yet that was not his only stop. He played atom and peewee in Yarmouth, was with the bantam Moncton Cubs, the Moncton Mudcats and attended the Atlantic Collegiate Showcase.

A two-time winner of the Atlantic Canada MVP, first in 2010 and then in 2012, Mercier also was awarded the Yarmouth County Youth Athlete of the year 2012 and was the youngest recipient ever to receive the Jimmy Hatfield Memorial trophy Person of the Year honor the next year.

Mercier began playing at age four, trained at Scott Bullett’s Bullett Proof Academy in Welland and headed to Vauxhall to learn fro coach Les McTavish.
