The Team Canada Juniors were in a jack pot leading up the World Juniors in Thunder Bay.

Their best hitter and their shortstop -- Adam Hall (London, Ont.) was not able to play due to an oblique injury.

Where was coach Greg Hamilton to turn?

Well, he looked to third base and moved SS Jason Willow (Victoria, BC) to short. Willow shared the Canuck lead in batting .333 with Lucas Parente.

Willow, who has committed to the University of California Santa Barbara Gauchos for this spring, was 12-for-36, while Parente was 6-for-18. Willow had two doubles, a triple, a homer, 10 RBIs and a  .928 OPS.

He is a Victoria Mariners grad after playing for coach Mike Chewpoy. Others headed to school are RHP Fynn Chester to Salt Lake Community College, RHP Jesse Simpson, Colby, RHP Jacob Potter and CF Dylan Price, Allen County, OF Ethan Brunton and 3B Caleb Piechik, Southeastern Illinois, OF Zeke Holt and INF Dan Rockwell Wenatchee, RHP Trey Crust, Douglas College, Dawson Neal and Nick Lee, Okanagan.

Meanwhile, Whalley Chiefs’s RHP AJ Yamaguchi is off to Colby College, while Victoria Eagles’ utility man Nate Postle, Okanagan.
