Clarington Orioles win 13U OBA crown
Lucas Morrisey was the engine that drove the Clarington Orioles to a 10-4 win over the Oakville A’s in Markham at the 13U eliminations.
Morrisey doubled in the first, singled in the second and doubled again in the sixth as he also knocked in a pair and scored three times.
Clarington will compete as Ontario 1 and Oakville will be Ontario 2, along with the host Woodstock Wranglers.
Chase Griffin had three hits, including a double and four RBIs. Greyson Rutherford and Gavin Laton each added a pair of hits.
Laton worked seven innings, striking out seven for the victory. William Kniginyzky homered for Oakville and Colton Accadia doubled. Lochlan Kern took the loss.

Oakville beat Clarington 11-1 to force the deciding game as Charlie Bellmore had three hits, including two doubles and an RBI. Kniginyzky homered and drove in four runs, while Hunter Latimer knocked in a pair. Xander Eichhorn worked four innings for the victory, allowing one run, walking two and striking out six.
Levi Chernis went 2-for-2, while Cooper Walsh took the loss.

Rutherford and Laton combined on a five hitter, striking out 11 (Rutherford, nine in 4 2/3 innings, Laton, two in 2 1/3) in a 3-2 win over the Newmarket Hawks. Rutherford added two hits and drove in a run.

Rutherford went 4-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored in a 9-3 win over Oakville. Kershaw Kemlo and Chernis had a pair of hits apiece, while Andy Stone added a triple. Morrisey beat Oakville for the first time, pitching 5 2/3 innings walking one and fanning 10.
Latimer drove in a pair of runs with a double while Svante Goure doubled as well.

Herod went 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs in a 19-11 win over the London Badgers in the first game of the qualifier. Chernis had a pair of doubles driving in two, while Stone doubled and singled knocking in one run.
Walsh started for Clarington allowing one earned run and Laton worked the final inning allowing zero earned runs.

The Orioles built up an 8-3 lead and then held off a stubborn Waterloo Tigers team with an 8-6 win. Chernis had three hits and knocked in four runs. Herod and Griffin each contributed two hits each.
Again Morrisey was on the mound. The workhorse pitched 5 1/3 innings fanning 10.

A five-run second helped pave the way for an 8-4 win over the Whitby Canadians. Morrisey had two hits, including a homer, knocking in a pair. Rutherford and Cooper added two hits, while Laton and Rutherford each tripled.
Herod allowed two runs in four innings.

Meanwhile Oakville began qualifier play with a 4-2 win over the East York, thanks to a four-run sixth in the opener of the qualifier. Three walks started the rally and Latimer scored on wild pitch. Willy Janzen singled in the tying run and then Accadia hit a two-strike, two-run, double to right for the winning margin. Levi Price added a double,
Eichhorn pitched 1 2/3 scorless before Kniginyzky came on in relief to strike out the final out.

Damiam Gonzalez pitched 5 2/3 innings as Oakville beat the Etobicoke Rangers 11-6. Gonzalez allowed two earned runs and struck out a pair. Latimer homered, singled and knocked in three runs. Kniginyzky also homered.
Price had two hits and knocked in three runs, while Noah Corneliez-Guerrero, Bellmore and Goure each had two hits.

Four runs in the fifth helped the A’s to a 7-4 win over the Vaughan Vikings. Latimer pitched 4 2/3 innings before Eichhorn closed out the final 2 1/3 innings as they combined to allow seven hits and five strikeouts.
Accadia, a classical music fan, who appreciates county music, had two hits and knocked in a pair.

Eight runs in the first two innings powered Oakville to a 15-5 win over the Leaside Leafs as Bellmore. Kniginyzky and Kern combined on the win, allowing five hits. Kniginyzky was 2-for-2 with a double, home run and five RBIs. Latimer doubled and singled, while others with two hits included Goure, Corneliez-Guerrero and Janzen.

On the second weekend -- besides the Clarington games -- Oakville edged Vaughan 12-11. The Vikinings had the tying runat third with none out. Accadia induced a ground ball to with the infield in ... second baseman Janzen fired home to catcher Max Nanavati for the out on a bang-bang play. With the tying run on second Goure tracked down a ball on the warning track for the final out.
Nanavati managed three hits and drove in four runs, while Corneliez-Guerrero had three hits two RBIs. Kniginyzky doubled, singled and knocked in a run as Bellmore added two hits as well.
