Anctil, Kladko, Matlock, Padgham shine for Women's national team against WNTDP Stars

The Women’s National Team closed out their Development Camp with two games against the WNTDP Stars on Saturday.

Baseball Canada

Game 1

Canada opened Saturday’s doubleheader against the Stripes, piling up 11 hits in a 14–6 result that still showcased meaningful offensive progress.

Raine Padgham (Abbotsford, BC) led the way at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a triple, double, three runs scored, and a stolen base. Lucie Anctil (La Pocatiére, Que.) added two hits and two RBIs, while Cassie Matlock (Edmonton, Alta.) drove in three. Ela Day-Bédard (Gatineau, Que.) reached twice and scored twice, and Andréanne LeBlanc (Mont-Saint-Hillaire, Que.) chipped in a multi-hit effort that included a double.

On the other side of the ball, Alli Schroder (Fruitvale, BC) tossed two innings of no earned runs, allowing three hits and striking out one.

Game 2

In the nightcap against the WNTDP Stars, Canada Black showed resilience in a 13–2 decision, highlighted by solid plate appearances and a clean finish on the mound.

Box Score

Ashlynn Jolicoeur (Whitby, Ont.) and Emma Howorth (Toronto, Ont.) recorded hits, while Océane Lambert (Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce, Que.) reached safely three times and swiped a base for a Canadian offence that saw a lot of traffic around the bases.

Juliette Kladko (Vancouver, BC) was doing it in both sides of the ball in game two of the doubleheader, tossing a scoreless frame in relief and finishing her day a perfect 1-for-1 at the plate.

Mikael Fields (Shortts Lake, N.S.) followed Kladko on the mound with a scoreless frame of her own before passing the ball to Liz Gilder (Port Moody, BC) who struck out two in the final inning.
