Day 2 Recap

Québec 11 - 0 Manitoba (Oakes Park)

Québec dominated Manitoba under the Oakes Park lights with a convincing 11-0 win. Team Québec racked up 13 hits while limiting the Manitoba offence to only three knocks.

Édouard Tardif (Trois-Riviérs, Que.) had a stellar night at the dish driving in five runs and scoring one in his four chances at the plate. Anthony Clavet (Quebec City, Que.) and Deiten Lachance (Sherbrooke, Que.) had perfect nights offensively, going 2-for-2 with an RBI. Jacob Wallace (Pincourt, Que.) worked four strong innings, allowing no runs and fanning four batters. Manitoba was kept off the board despite Skylar Ramsey (Brandon, Man.) and Ethan Giesbrecht (Altona, Man.) having perfect nights at the plate both going 1-for-1, accounting for two out of the three Manitoba hits in the game.

New Brunswick 8 - 16 Alberta (Welland Stadium)

Alberta's offence exploded for 16 runs to best New Brunswick in the last game of day 2 at the Canada Summer Games competition.

Eric Hartman (St. Albert, Alta.) had a stellar night at the plate at the top of Alberta's lineup, driving in four runs in four clutch at bats while also scoring a pair. Simon Baker (Calgary, Alta.), Eric Machej (Okotoks, Alta.), Dylan Chopp (Calgary, Alta.) and Leo Cote (Okotoks, Alta.) all had multi-RBI games to solidify Alberta’s offensive performance. New Brunswick fought hard, scoring eight runs on 15 hits, but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback. Tyler Stewart (Fredericton, N.B.) racked up four hits in five at bats in the upset effort.

British Columbia 3 - 13 Saskatchewan (Oakes Park)

Saskatchewan ran away with a big win against British Columbia. Team Saskatchewan doubled their opponent in hits and had a five-run fifth inning to put an end to this one.

Oakland Flodell (Clavet, Sask.) and Carter Beck (Carnduff, Sask.) both had a great evening at the dish combining for six RBIs and five hits at the top of the lineup. Jackson Martin (Grand Coulee, Sask.) did his part, driving in three as well, over his three at bats. British Columbia scored only three runs despite collecting seven hits. Sam Shaw (Victoria, BC) was the centerpiece of the offence going 2-for-3, while scoring a pair and driving in one.

Prince Edward Island 5 - 3 Newfoundland & Labrador (Welland Stadium)

Newfoundland & Labrador fell behind early and couldn't complete the comeback against Prince Edward Island dropping a close 5-3 game.

Prince Edward Island's offence was sparked by the leadoff hitter Chris MacDougall (Cornwall, PEI) who racked up three hits in four at bats while scoring two runs and driving in one. Ethan Smith (Stratdford, PEI) also had himself a multi-hit game at the dish going 2-for-3, scoring two runs. Newfoundland & Labrador couldn't complete the comeback despite strong multi-hit performances at the dish by Brady Sheppard (Lark Harbour, Nfld.) and Thomas Hancock (Massey Drive, Nfld.).

Ontario 11 - 4 Nova Scotia (Oakes Park)

Ontario won big against Nova Scotia despite an early three-run deficit. Nova Scotia got off to a hot start in the first inning, taking advantage of one of the two errors committed by Ontario in this game.

Lane George (Belnan, N.S.) was a spark for the Nova Scotia offence collecting one hit in two at bats with two free passes, scoring one and driving in one for his club. However, three runs were not enough to best the Ontarians who collected a total of 10 hits in the game. Preston Barr (St. Joachim, Ont.) had himself a game at the dish going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Veer Wadhwani (Grimsby, Ont.) was also a big part of the offensive breakout, driving in four runs on two hits in his four at bats.

Manitoba 7 - 9 New Brunswick (Welland Stadium)

New Brunswick came from behind to best Manitoba in this tight game. Offence was the name of the game for both provinces in this one.

Max Jardine (Miramichi, N.B.) and Michael Losier (Dieppe, N.B.) led their team's offence. Both collected a pair of hits in three at bats, while Tyler Stewart (Fredericton, N.B.), Ian Humphrey (Fredericton, N.B.) and Demitri Shakotko (Fredericton) also collected a pair of RBIs and one hit each. Manitoba's offence was led by Hugh Montgomery (Winnipeg, Man.) who racked up two hits in four at bats, scoring one and driving one in for his team. Nixon Carriere (Winnipeg, Man.) came up clutch for team Manitoba, collecting a pair of RBIs in his only hit of the game.

Prince Edward Island 4 - 5 Québec (Oakes Park)

Québec walked this one off in extra innings in a back-and-forth affair between these two provinces.

Maxime Boies (Lévis, Que.) was the hero for Québec collecting the winning two-RBI single after being down to their final strike of the game. Édouard Tardif (Trois-Riviérs, Que.) kept the Québec offence in this tight game with a 4-for-4 performance at the dish. Jérémy Pilon (Valleyfield, Que.) was the winning pitcher. The left-hander came in and closed the door on PEI's offence, allowing just one base hit over his inning of work.

Alberta 17 - 7 Newfoundland & Labrador (Welland Stadium)

Alberta's offence had an incredible start to the day collecting 17 runs on 14 hits. Eric Hartman (St. Albert, Alta.) led the offence for Team Alberta, driving in three runs on two hits, one of them a home run, in his two at bats. Gavin Galenza (Cameros, Alta.) was also a force offensively collecting three RBIs of his own on three hits in four at bats.

Newfoundland put up a good battle, scoring runs in the second, third and fourth inning consecutively to shorten Alberta's lead to 11-7. Braendan Walsh (St. John's, Nfld.) and Nicholas Smith (Flatrock, Nfld.) led the offence for their team, both collecting two RBIs on two hits.

That set the stage for the debut of Jaida Lee (St. John's, Nfld.) who came in relief and became the first-ever female to compete at the Canada Summer Games baseball competition. The highly anticipated debut did not disapoint as Jaida took the mound and proceeded to work a one, two, three inning for her squad.
