The Toronto Blue Jays have officially called up top pitching prospect Sean Reid-Foley who will make his major league debut on Monday with his start against the Kansas City Royals.

In two related moves, the Toronto Blue Jays have optioned reliever Danny Barnes to triple-A Buffalo and have designated right-handed reliever Brandon Cumpton for assignment.

Selected by the Blue Jays in the second round of the 2014 MLB draft, Reid-Foley has posted a combined 12-4 record with a 2.98 ERA in 23 starts with double-A New Hampshire and triple-A Buffalo this season. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound right-hander is in his fifth season in the Blue Jays organization.

Barnes, who returned to the club's bullpen on August 1 after five weeks on the disabled list with tendinitis in his left knee, has struggled in 2018. After a promising 2017 campaign that saw him register a 3.55 ERA in 60 appearances, the 28-year-old righty boasts a 4.50 ERA in 35 contests this season.

Cumpton, who was purchased by the Blue Jays from the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the independent Atlantic League on July 5, appeared in just one game for the Blue Jays, allowing one run in 1 2/3 innings. This, however, marked his first big league appearance since 2014 when he recorded a 4.89 ERA in 16 games with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
