Hours removed from handing over another late-inning lead, the Toronto Blue Jays called up LHP Tayler Saucedo from triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.

RHP Jeremy Beasley was optioned in a corresponding move, and RHP A.J. Cole (left oblique strain) was transferred to the 60-day injured list to clear a spot on the club's 40-man roster.

A 21st-round draft pick in 2015, Saucedo, 28, has appeared in parts of six minor league seasons and earns his first MLB call-up after posting a cumulative ERA of 4.30 across 146 games.

Appearing primarily as a starter early on in his professional career, the 6-foot-5 product of Honolulu, Hawaii made the transition to a full-time relief role in 2019 and has allowed just seven earned runs on 29 hits since that point, striking out 44 in 43 innings.

Beasley last appeared with the club on June 4, firing 46 pitches over a pair of scoreless innings. In five games with the Blue Jays this season, he's recorded an ERA of 6.75 while striking out 10 and allowing a pair of home runs.

An effective piece of Toronto's bullpen in 2020, Cole made it into just six games prior to being sidelined on June 2. With his original IL stint being retroactive to May 30, Cole will be eligible to rejoin the club during the first week in August.
