Official Toronto Blue Jays News Release

Get ready, Toronto!

The Blue Jays return to Rogers Centre to start their first homestand of the 2023 season, beginning with Tuesday night’s Home Opener presented by TD, against the Detroit Tigers (7:07 p.m. ET).

Tuesday’s game marks the first time Blue Jays fans will experience the new renovations at Rogers Centre and the Outfield District. The renovations feature five distinct neighbourhoods and many new social spaces, with live entertainment and food and beverage menus that reflect the city of Toronto – available to anyone with a game ticket.

Fans are strongly encouraged to arrive at Rogers Centre early to allow time to pass through security, with gates opening at 5 p.m. ET. Whether at the game or watching from home, fans will be treated to pregame opening ceremonies airing on Sportsnet and SN NOW, preceded by a special edition of Blue Jays Central, live from Rogers Centre starting at 6 p.m. ET. Fans can also listen to the game live on the Sportsnet Radio Network and the Sportsnet App.

Below are key details for the Home Opener, plus additional homestand information:

-Tuesday’s opening ceremonies will feature individual awards presentations for Alejandro Kirk (Silver Slugger), Jordan Romano (Tip O’Neill), and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Gold Glove). The Blue Jays will also honour first baseman and 2023 National Baseball Hall of Fame inductee, Fred McGriff, who will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

-Fans attending the Home Opener will receive a Blue Jays light-up wristband giveaway on entry, which is programmed for the opening ceremonies, and a Blue Jays Magnet Schedule giveaway on exit, both presented by TD.

-On Saturday, April 15, the Blue Jays will join all of MLB in honouring the legacy of Jackie Robinson, including players and coaches wearing Robinson’s number 42. Sandra Koomson, a barrier-breaking coach, leader, and mentor in the Jays Care Foundation community, will throw the ceremonial first pitch, and there will be a special in-game feature celebrating the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City.
