TORONTO -- On Friday, the Toronto Blue Jays and veteran right-hander Matt Shoemaker came to terms on a one year deal that could see the former 16-game winner earn up to $4.5M in 2019.

Although injuries have limited the 6-foot-2 product of Wyandotte, Mich., to only 108 2/3 innings over the last two seasons, Shoemaker, 32, was given a clean bill of health towards the end of the 2018 campaign and made six starts for the 80-82 Angels in September.

Through parts of six seasons with the Halos, the 2014 American League Rookie of the Year runner-up has pitched to an overall ERA of 3.93 while making 93 starts and posting a cumulative WHIP of 1.214 across 545 frames.

Made available after the Angels chose not to tender him a contract earlier this month December, Shoemaker, via arbitration, is under team control through the 2020 season and projects to join a Blue Jays’ rotation that currently consists of Marcus Stroman, Aaron Sanchez, and Ryan Borucki.
