The Toronto Blue Jays have signed veteran reliever Tyler Rogers to a three-year, $37-million deal.
Ken Rosenthal, of The Athletic, was the first to report the transaction, which is pending a physical.
The deal also includes a vesting option for a fourth year that could make it worth $48 million.
Rogers, who will turn 35 on Wednesday, split 2025 between the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets and topped all National League pitchers with 81 appearances. His 1.98 ERA was his lowest in a full major league campaign.
The 6-foot-3 sidearmer has been the most durable reliever in the majors over the past six seasons, topping all bullpen arms in appearances (420) and innings (406 1/3). With the Giants, Rogers also led National League relievers in appearances in 2020, 2021 and 2024.
Over the past five seasons, his season ERA has never been above 3.57 and three times it has been below 3.00.
According to Sportsnet Stats, Rogers had the lowest release point in the big leagues last year at 1.33 feet. In contrast, Blue Jays rookie starter Trey Yesavage had the highest release point at 7.11 feet.
Rogers is expected to be used in a late-inning set-up role for the Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays signed Rogers one day after closer Robert Suarez, whom the Blue Jays had been pursuing, inked a three-year, $45-million deal with the Atlanta Braves.
