Canada's top amateur players set to be in Vancouver for Canadian Futures Showcase

For the first time, the Canadian Futures Showcase presented by Rogers heads to the west coast, bringing together 150 of Canada’s top amateur players for the country's premier amateur baseball tournament.

Hosted September 17-20 at historic Rogers Field at Nat Bailey Stadium, home of the Vancouver Canadians, the event gives draft and college-eligible players the opportunity to showcase their abilities in front of MLB scouts and college recruiters while advancing their athletic and academic aspirations.

Throughout the Canadian Futures Showcase’s 12-year history:

  • 192 participants have been drafted by MLB organizations, including nine 2026 drafted players 

  • More than 1,100 participants have received college scholarships

  • 18 showcase alumni have been drafted or signed by the Toronto Blue Jays

  • 17 showcase alumni have made their MLB debut

The showcase splits 150 amateur players between six teams to compete in a tournament-style format. Players were selected through a series of open tryouts and in-person evaluations that ran nationally during the spring and summer. This year’s move to Vancouver provides an opportunity for central and west coast college programs to be in attendance, giving them a closer look at the nation’s top prospects.

This year’s top prospect roster includes RHP Calum Andersen, OF Mikey Batiste, C Gino De Santis, OF Will Henderson, 1B Jalen Jacob, LHP Oscar Leah, OF Gabriel Lehouillier:

  • RHP Calum Andersen (Calgary, Alta.) is committed to the University of Oklahoma and is regarded as one of Alberta's top amateur baseball prospects. A member of the Canadian Junior National Team. He will play for Team Royal.

  • OF Mikey Batiste (Mississauga, Ont.) is a member of the Class of 2028 and is already gaining recognition as one of the country's top young amateur baseball prospects. He will play for Team Royal.

  • C Gino De Santis (Chatham, Ont.) is an uncommitted prospect who has continued to draw attention for his development and performance on the amateur baseball circuit in Ontario. He will play for Team New Blue.

  • OF Will Henderson (Mississauga, Ont.) is committed to the University of Utah and has established himself as one of the top players in his graduating class in Ontario. He will play for Team New Blue.

  • 1B Jalen Jacob (Maple, Ont.) is one of the top-ranked uncommitted Canadian prospects in the Class of 2027, recognized for his elite left-handed power and offensive potential. A member of the Canadian Junior National Team. He will play for Team Royal.

  • LHP Oscar Leah (Maple Ridge, B.C.) is a left-handed pitcher who is committed to the Kansas State University and a member of the Canadian Junior National Team. He will play for Team Royal.

  • OF Gabriel Lehouillier (Lévis, Que.) is an uncommitted prospect from Quebec who has emerged as one of the province's top young talents. He will play for Team New Blue.

Coaches in this year’s tournament feature 11 former Major League players, including Blue Jays alumni Andrew Albers (North Battleford, Sask.), Denis Boucher (Lachine, Que.), Matt Stairs (Fredericton, N.B.) and Michael Saunders (Victoria, B.C.).
