Cloud County Community College, like a lot of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference teams, value their Canadians.

One of those Canucks is left-handed pitcher Haden Dow (St. John, N.B.).

Dow certainly proved his worth last week by making a pair of starts for the Thunderbirds. The first was on Monday, March 14, when he worked five innings and allowed one run on three hits in a 4-3 loss to Colby Community College. He issued a pair of walks and struck out 10. It was an all-Canadian pitching matchup as Brayden Cust (Edmonton, Alta.) took the mound for the Trojans.

Six days later, Dow took the mound again, this time picking up the win in a 6-3 Game 4 victory over Pratt. Dow held the Beavers to one run on four hits over six innings. He walked one and struck out eight. With the win he improved to 3-1 on the year.

Final line for the week: 11IP, 7H, 4R (2ER), 3BB, 18K

Cloud County is now 19-7 on the season.

Dow’s heavy workload and strong performance makes him the Canadian Baseball Network College Player of the Week for March 14-20.
