Robin Villeneuve has set the bar high for his sophomore season at Weatherford College.

Not only did the Gatineau, Que., native hit. .324 in 44 games at the plate in 2022 but he also went 4-0 with a 3.18 ERA over 45 1/3 innings on the mound.

The high expectations don’t seem to be bothering him early into the 2023 campaign as he opened the season with four hits, two home runs, two walks and five RBIs in a three-game series against Blinn. On top of those stellar offensive numbers, he also collected his first win of the season by tossing 1 1/3 scoreless, hitless innings with a walk and two strikeouts as the Coyotes won the rubber match of the series 4-3.

The former Academie de Baseball Canada and Canadian Junior National Team player spent the 2022 summer with the Kamloops North Paws of the West Coast League remains uncommitted to a four-year school.

Robin Villeneuve is the Canadian Baseball Network College Player of the Week for Jan. 23 to 29.
