Official Barrie Baycats News Release

Barrie, Ont. — The Barrie Baycats have announced the return of right-handed pitcher Brad Grieveson for the 2026 Canadian Baseball League season.

Grieveson’s baseball career has included stops at North Central Texas College and Southeastern Oklahoma State before beginning his Intercounty Baseball League career in Barrie. He made an immediate impact with the Baycats, earning Intercounty Baseball League Rookie of the Year honours in 2002. Three seasons later, he was part of the Baycats’ 2005 IBL championship team.

Grieveson, a native of Creemore, Ont., returned to the Baycats in 2020 and has served as the club’s pitching coach since the 2021 season, while continuing to contribute on the field. Over the past five seasons, he has also been a steady arm out of the Barrie bullpen.

His most notable recent moment came in 2024 when he recorded the final out of the IBL Finals, sealing the Baycats’ eighth championship.

Grieveson returns to Barrie continuing his long-standing on-field and coaching role within the organization.

The Baycats open up their 2026 Canadian Baseball League campaign on May 14 at 7:38 pm at Athletic Kulture Stadium against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
