Official Barrie Baycats News Release

Barrie, Ont. — The Barrie Baycats have announced the return of infielder Nolan Machibroda for the 2026 Canadian Baseball League season.

Machibroda, a native of Saskatoon, Sask., played collegiately from 2020 to 2022, spending time at Southeastern University, Lubbock Christian University, and Cumberland University. Across 116 collegiate games, the 6-foot-4 infielder was a career .346 hitter with 28 home runs. Following his college career, Machibroda signed a minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins organization and attended spring training in 2023.

He made his professional debut later that year with the Trois-Rivières Aigles of the Frontier League, appearing in 15 games and recording two doubles, three home runs, and eight RBIs.

Machibroda joined the Baycats ahead of the 2024 season and quickly became a key contributor as Barrie captured the Intercounty Baseball League championship. In 37 games during the 2024 campaign, he hit .331 with 13 doubles, five home runs, and 27 RBIs. Following the season, Machibroda was selected to compete in the California Winter League, the Frontier League’s official winter league.

During the 2024–25 offseason, Machibroda signed with the Ottawa Titans, before returning to Barrie prior to the 2025 season. In 41 games with the Baycats in 2025, Machibroda hit four home runs, drove in 37 runs, and earned his second consecutive IBL All-Star selection.

The Baycats open up their 2026 Canadian Baseball League campaign on May 14 at 7:38 p.m. at Athletic Kulture Stadium against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
