Official Barrie Baycats News Release

Barrie, Ont. — The Barrie Baycats have announced the return of infielder Adam Odd, a proven run producer and one of the most clutch postseason performers in recent history.

A native of Streetsville, Ont., Odd brings a strong blend of collegiate and IBL experience back to Barrie. He played three seasons with the Toronto Varsity Blues from 2014-15 through 2017-18, where he made an immediate impact at the plate and on the mound. In his freshman season, Odd posted a remarkable .471 batting average with six extra-base hits and 11 RBIs in just 16 games — his best offensive season at the U SPORTS level. He also contributed as a pitcher throughout his varsity career, highlighted by a standout sophomore season in which he recorded a 1.69 ERA and 19 strikeouts across seven appearances.

While competing in university baseball, Odd launched his IBL career in 2015 with the Burlington Bandits (now the Welland Jackfish), quickly establishing himself as one of the league’s top young hitters. That season, he hit .372 with five home runs in 28 games and earned IBL All-Star honours. He spent two seasons with the Bandits (2015–2016) before continuing his IBL journey with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2017 and 2018.

Odd returned to the Intercounty Baseball League in 2022, joining the Baycats and quickly becoming a key piece of Barrie’s lineup. His breakout season came in 2023, when he hit .390 with six home runs, 13 doubles, and 27 RBIs in 30 games, firmly establishing himself as one of the league’s most dangerous offensive threats.

Over the past two seasons, Odd has built a reputation as a big-moment hitter. He has belted four home runs in IBL Finals play, including multi-homer performances in Game 1 of both the 2024 and 2025 championship series. The most memorable of those came in 2024 when his second home run of the night was a walk-off blast in a 12-10 win, setting the tone as Barrie went on to sweep the Guelph Royals to capture the league championship.

With his return, the Baycats secure a battle-tested infielder, a proven postseason performer, and a player who consistently rises when the pressure is at its highest.

The Baycats open up their 2026 Canadian Baseball League campaign on May 14 at 7:38 pm at Athletic Kulture Stadium against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
