GUELPH, ONT. - The Guelph Royals have re-signed first baseman Liam Wilson for the 2026 season.

Wilson (Kitchener, Ont.), 30, returns to Guelph for his second season with the team after a successful inaugural campaign with the Royals in 2025.

In his debut season with the team, the Canisius grad hit .299 with three home runs in the regular season before batting .400 in the playoffs.

Prior to his time with Guelph, the veteran played six seasons in the IBL for the Hamilton Cardinals and Kitchener Panthers organizations.

His best season came in 2023 when he hit .323 and a whopping 13 home runs for Kitchener.

Royals assistant general manager Ryan Eakin said he expects a dominant Wilson in 2026.

"After a year off in 2024, I think we only saw a glimpse last year of what Liam can do for us. He showed great bat-to-ball skills, gave us great at-bats, and plus-defence at first base, but we expect to see some more power from him here in 2026. We need to hit more home runs this season and while we think some of our additions will help with that, we are also banking on realistic internal improvements."
