Right-hander Cedric De Grandpre allowed just one hit in five scoreless innings in his start for the Atlanta Braves’ High-A Rome Emperors on Sunday.
For his efforts, he has been named the Canadian Baseball Network’s minor league Player of the Week.
It’s the first time De Grandpre (Saint-Simon-de-Bagot, Que.) has received the honour this season.
The 6-foot-2 right-hander’s performance came against the Boston Red Sox High-A Greenville Drive in front of 6,527 fans at Fluor Field.
De Grandpre struck out three batters and walked five during the contest. He threw 83 pitches.
It was his third time in 10 starts with the Emperors that De Grandpre has pitched five or more scoreless innings. He tossed five scoreless, no-hit frames against the Asheville Tourists on June 1. Five weeks later, on July 8, he did not surrender a run in six innings, while permitting just three hits, to the Hub City Spartanburgers.
In total with the Emperors this season, the 23-year-old ABC and Junior National Team grad is 2-3 with a 2.70 ERA and has 51 strikeouts and 35 walks in 43 1/3 innings
Selected in the 13th round of the 2022 MLB draft by the Braves, De Grandpre has rebounded nicely in 2025 after missing the 2024 season following Tommy John surgery.
