Cedric De Grandpre tossed seven innings, allowing just one run on three hits, to pick up the win for the Atlanta Braves’ double-A Columbus Clingstones against the Chattanooga Lookouts on Sunday.
The Canadian right-hander also struck out seven batters.
For his efforts, De Grandpre (Saint-Simon-de-Bagot, Que.) has been named the Canadian Baseball Network’s Minor League Player of the Week (July 14 to July 19).
In his start, De Grandpre threw 63 of his 97 pitches for strikes and his seven innings matched a season-high.
In four starts with the Clingstones in July, the 24-year-old righty is 3-0 with a 1.13 ERA with 29 strikeouts in 24 innings.
Overall, it was De Grandpre’s 10th win of the minor league season. He had six wins with the High-A Rome Braves before promoted to the Clingstones.
Selected in the 13th round of the 2022 MLB draft by the Braves, the ABC and Junior National Team alum is in his fourth professional season.
