Outfielder Noah Myers (Wyoming, Ont.) belted his first two home runs at the double-A level with the Tampa Bay Rays’ Montgomery Biscuits last week.
He also topped all Canadian hitters in the affiliated minor league ranks in batting average (.364), on-base percentage (.562), slugging percentage (1.000) and OPS (1.562).
For his efforts, he has been named the Canadian Baseball Network minor league Player of the Week (Sep. 9 to Sep. 14).
It’s the second time Myers has received the honour this season. He also won it for the week of April 7 to April 14 while he was with the High-A Bowling Green Hot Rods.
Myers started off last week going 1-for-2 with a double and a walk for the Biscuits in their 10-0 loss to Chicago Cubs’ double-A Knoxville Smokies on Tuesday.
Two days later, he would sock his first double-A home run. It was a solo shot in the third inning to help the Biscuits to a 3-0 victory.
After drawing three walks in four plate appearances on Friday, Myers clubbed another solo home run in the seventh inning of a Biscuits’ 7-4 loss to the Smokies on Saturday.
He completed his week by going 1-for-3 with a single and a walk in the Biscuits’ 7-3 win on Sunday.
In total, Myers was 4-for-11 (.364) with two home runs and five walks in four games for the week.
Signed as an amateur free agent by the Rays in December 2023, the Great Lake Canadians and Junior National Team alum is in his second minor league season.
