Outfielder Tristan Peters (Winkler, Man.) topped all Canadians in the affiliated minor league ranks with two home runs, eight RBIs and an .850 slugging percentage in six games for the Tampa Bay Rays’ triple-A Durham Bulls last week.

For his efforts, he has been named the Canadian Baseball Network’s minor league Player of the Week (June 24 to June 29).

It’s the second CBN Player of the Week honour for Peters in the past month. He also captured the award for the week of May 27 to June 1.

Peters started last week off with a bang when he went 3-for-5 with a grand slam and six RBIs to lead the Bulls to a 15-6 win over the Memphis Redbirds on Tuesday. He also had a double and a single in the contest.

After being limited to a walk the following day, he collected his second double of the week on Wednesday in the Bulls’ 3-2 victory over the Redbirds.

Batting third the next day, he belted a solo home run, had three walks and stole his 10th base of the season to propel the Bulls to another win.

He added two more hits - including his third double of the week - and drove in a run on Saturday in an 11-3 loss to the Redbirds and then added a single and a walk in the series finale on Sunday.

In total last week, Peters went 8-for-20 (.400 batting average), scored five runs and had a .520 on-base percentage.

The 25-year-old Manitoban is now hitting .306 with eight home runs and 49 RBIs in 80 games with the Bulls this season.
