Matt Lloyd belted his first three home runs of the season for the triple-A Memphis Redbirds last week.
It was part of his outstanding 9-for-21 (.429 batting average), nine-RBI output during six games between April 29 and May 4.
For his efforts, he has been named the Canadian Baseball Network’s minor league Player of the Week for a second consecutive week.
Lloyd’s recent hot stretch began when he clubbed a walk-off grand slam for the Redbirds on April 30 in a 10-6 win over the Louisville Bats.
He followed that up with a single in his next game and then had three consecutive multi-hit contests against Louisville, including going a perfect 3-for-3 with a solo homer on May 3.
He added another solo shot on Sunday in the Redbirds’ 15-3 loss to the Bats.
In all, in 23 games in triple-A this season, Lloyd owns a .325/.430/.532 slash line. He has 25 hits - including five doubles - to go with 15 walks and 23 RBIs.
