83 CPBL players on Canadian Futures Showcase rosters

The 11th annual Toronto Blue Jays Canadian Futures Showcase is set to begin Tuesday, September 16 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto and will feature an astonishing 83 CPBL players.

In all 83 of the 155 players participating in the event or 54% of the players nationwide can currently be found on a CPBL roster highlighted by the top ranked hitter in the country Robert Omidi (Mississauga, Ont.) of the Fieldhouse Pirates.

Even more impressive, 87% of the players from Ontario are members of CPBL organizations.

FULL EVENT ROSTERS CAN BE FOUND HERE

The showcase splits players evenly between six teams to compete against each other in a tournament-style format, starting with a scout day and concluding with a Championship game and Home Run derby on the final day. Players are selected through a series of open tryouts and in-person evaluations that run nationally over the spring and summer. 

Since 2013, 127 former Canadian Futures Showcase participants have been drafted by Major League Baseball organizations, with more than 900 receiving college scholarships.
