Okotoks, Alta. – Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.) homered on the first pitch of the game to jumpstart the Okotoks Dawgs to a 9-2 road victory over the Fort McMurray Giants on Wednesday.

Crowson would finish 2-for-3 with two walks in the contest.

Ricky Sanchez also had a good day, going 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Jayden Lusk added three hits, two runs and two RBIs for the Dawgs, while Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, N.S.) also pitched in, going 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

The Dawgs’ pitching was led by starter Brody Forno (Okotoks, Alta.), who threw seven strong innings, allowing just two runs, while striking out seven, to pick up the win.

The bullpen once again did its job. Nolan Jackson (Grimsby, Ont.) came on and threw a scoreless eighth before Aaron Taka set down the Giants hitters in order in the ninth.

With the win, the Dawgs improved to 17-6 on the year.

The Dawgs continue their road trip on Thursday with another game against the Giants. Their next home game is Canada Day against the Sylvan Lake Gulls. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
