Crowson, Forno, Grant lead Dawgs to win over 57s

The Okotoks Dawgs beat the Swift Current 57s 5-2 on Thursday night.

With the win, the Dawgs improved their record to 21-9 and they sit two-and-a-half games ahead of the Lethbridge Bulls in the West Division standings.

On the mound, Brody Forno (Okotoks, Alta.) started and struck out five in five scoreless innings to earn his first win of the season. Trey Mackwood (Calgary, Alta.) and closer Easton Corey (Linn-Benton Community College) each contributed scoreless innings in relief.

Offensively, Logan Grant (Calgary, Alta.) and Jason Arriola homered for the Dawgs, while Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.) went 3-for-5 and scored two runs.

The Dawgs will face the 57s again on Friday for the second game of the series.
