Crowell, Rose lead Dawgs to win over Cactus Rats

The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Energy City Cactus Rats 7-1 on Fan Appreciation Night at Seaman Stadium on Friday.

With the win, the Dawgs improved to 37-15 on the season. They are three-and-a-half games ahead of the Sylvan Lake Gulls atop the West Division standings.

Offensively, Aidan Rose (Calgary, Alta.) led the charge for the Dawgs, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

Zane Skansi (Campbellsville University) and Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.) both went 1-for-2, while Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, N.S.) belted a two-run home run.

On the mound, Jace Wessels (Bellevue University) got the start and tossed 4 1/3 scoreless innings. Brody Forno (Okotoks, Alta.), Evan Lehnert (Linn Benton Community College) and Caden Fischer (Okotoks Dawgs Academy) each contributed scoreless innings in relief.

The Dawgs will now hit the road for a doubleheader against the Lethbridge Bulls on Saturday.
