The Okotoks Dawgs controlled Sunday’s matchup from the middle innings on, cruising to an 8–3 victory over the Energy City Cactus Rats.
After falling behind early, the Dawgs responded with a steady offensive output from the third through the seventh innings.
A late push by Energy City in the ninth trimmed the margin, but the Dawgs’ bullpen held on to secure the win and improve their record to 10-6 and move into first place in the West Division.
Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.) and Jacob Wrubleski (Okotoks, Alta.) led the charge at the plate for the Dawgs. Crowson collected two hits and scored twice, while Wrubleski delivered a 2-for-3 performance after entering the game.
Brandon Paez (Montreal, Que.) continued to provide reliable production in the infield, going 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
On the mound, Cade Langford (Southwest Baptist University) started and allowed just one hit and an unearned run in three innings.
The Dawgs used seven pitchers in total.
The Dawgs’ next game will be against the Fort McMurray Giants at Seaman Stadium on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
