The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Sylvan Lake Gulls 5-2 at Seaman Stadium on Tuesday.

The Dawgs were led by starter Brady Baltus (Bellevue University), who struck out six in six strong innings.

After Baltus exited, the Dawgs relied on their relievers to shut the door. Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Alta.), Frank Flores (Colorado State University - Pueblo) and Alex Oliver (Colorado State University - Pueblo) combined to keep the Gulls at bay. Oliver pitched the ninth inning and allowed just one hit to close out the game.

Offensively, Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.) led the way when he delivered a clutch, two-run single in the fifth inning to break the game open.

Ayden Crouse (Chandler Gilbert CC) and Zane Skansi (Campbellsville University) continued to stay hot for the Dawgs. Skansi went 3-for-4 to increase his average to .464. Eric Machej (St. Albert, Alta.) also had two hits and was outstanding in the field.

The Dawgs will now hit the road to play two against Moose Jaw, then one versus Medicine Hat before returning home on Saturday.
