OKOTOKS, Alta. — The Okotoks Dawgs and Medicine Hat Mavericks completed a rained out game from earlier in the season on Friday afternoon at Seaman Stadium. The Dawgs won 3-2 in 10 innings.

J.T. Patterson (Bellevue University) pinch hit for Marcus Skundrich (Mesa Community College) and doubled to centre to score Ryan Humeniuk (Indian Hills Community College) to walk-off the Mavericks.

Barry Caine got the loss after pitching 2 2/3 innings and is now 6-1.

Matt Brooks was the starter for the Mavericks (36-8) back on June 16. He went three innings, didn’t allow a run and struck out three.

The Dawgs (32-12) got to Brooks’ replacement, Ryan Czanstowski, in the seventh when Humeniuk tripled to score Riley Baasch (Bellevue University) and Abdiel Alicea (Tabor College) scored Humeniuk with a sacrifice fly to centre.

Also in the seventh, Eddie Sanchez (Central Arkansas University) tied the Dawgs’ single season record of 31 walks. Sanchez set the record last season. In the ninth, he broke his own record with a leadoff walk.

When the game resumed in the fourth, Cody Ebert (Columbia College) was on the mound. In the seventh inning, Ebert broke the single season franchise record for strikeouts when he retired Reed Odland. The previous record holder was Ryan Rogers, who recorded 61 back in 2011.

Ebert tossed six innings in the resumed game, allowed one earned run and struck out six.

Dustin Schorie (Mesa Community College) pitched the top of the 10th and earned the win. He is now 2-1 this season.

Thursday night’s game that got rained out will not be rescheduled this season.
